APPRAISAL SECTION
The Appraisal Section is for members who have an interest in
appraisal beyond the collective needs of the NAR. Members keep
current on key developments and trends through a monthly newsletter,
a section membership directory, new flashes about hot
appraisal issues, the latest news from the Appraisal Foundation,
the Appraiser Qualifications Board and the Appraisal Standards
Board.
Designations:
GAA (General Accredited Appraiser). Awarded to state general certified
appraisers. Candidates must have one (1) year minimum experience (in addition
to the experience required to obtain state certification) and complete sixty
(60) hours of tested course work.
RAA (Residential Accredited Appraiser). Awarded to state residential
certified appraisers. Candidates must have one (2) year minimum experience (in
addition to the experience required to obtain state certification) and complete
forty-five (45) hours of tested course work.
INTERNATIONAL REAL ESTATE SECTION
Supports the unique professional needs of those interested
in international real estate. Members receive a membership directory,
discounts on courses leading to the CIPS designation, a newsletter
containing information about trends in foreign investment, profiles
of successful international transactions, a calendar of meetings,
tax and legal updates, and other information essential to understanding
the international marketplace, as well as information about international
Section meetings, property marketing sessions and educational
courses and seminars.
Designations:
CIPS (Certified International Property Specialist). Earned by completing
five (5) CIPS courses totaling seven (7) days of instruction, submitting documentation
for three (3) itnernational transactions, and earning 100 elective points. Elective
points are earned for such things a overseas travel, speaking a foreign language,
etc.
PROPERTY MANAGEMENT SECTION
In Partnership with the Institute of Real Estate Management
(IREM), the Section keeps members current on key developments
and trends facing todays property manager. Members receive
a bi-monthly newsletter which provides a quick, easy to read synopsis
of currently property management programs.
