As we welcome the New Year, I would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Billy Swanzer, I have the honor and pleasure of serving as the 2025 President for the Lorain County Association of REALTORS® (LoCAR). During my time as president, I look forward to representing "The Voice of Real Estate" with articles of interest that promote the value of home ownership, real estate data and trends, along with homeownership tips.
The Lorain County Association of REALTORS® is an industry trade association representing licensed real estate sales agents in Lorain County who are members of the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) and the Ohio REALTORS® (OR). As members of NAR these licensed real estate agents have earned the REALTOR® designation and they pledge to protect the rights of homeownership and conduct their real estate business abiding by the NAR Code of Ethics.
The Lorain County Association of REALTORS® also represents Affiliate members. Affiliate members are professionals who provide important real estate industry support services such as, home inspectors, mortgage providers, title insurance companies, appraisal services, carpet cleaning, surveyors, etc.
As a trade association promoting residential and commercial property sales using REALTORS® on both sides of the real estate transaction (selling and buying), LoCAR also provides many services to the community. For example, our revamped Legislative Committee works with other groups monitoring regulations and public policy programs affecting the ownership of real property.
Members of the Lorain County Association of REALTORS® care about the community in which they live, work and support. Our Community Outreach Committee assists local community programs and charities. Activities of the Community Outreach Committee include: collecting donations for the Lorain County Office on Aging and organized a fundraiser for Project Lifesaver of Lorain County. Plus, through generous donations, a Christmas wish list for a local military family was able to be filled through LoCAR’s Adopt-a-Military Family Program.
LoCAR was also able to make a financial contribution to Valor Home of Lorain through our annual charity golf outing.
Last year, LoCAR established an LCCC Foundation Scholarship. LoCAR’s Networking Committee raised funds for this yearly scholarship program. Through this partnership with LCCC we are able to help people looking at the housing Industry for a career. LoCAR makes annual contributions of $2,500 to this scholarship for the next 10 years.
The LoCAR Scholarship will support students entering career fields related to the housing and building industry including, but not limited to, real estate, banking, title, insurance, building maintenance, construction and skilled trades.
The articles you’ll see here for 2025 will promote the important role of REALTORS® throughout the real estate industry in Lorain County. The articles will focus on the opportunities and trends within Lorain County to provide affordable housing (through either existing home sales or new construction sales) and to encourage first-time homebuyers, move-ups, commercial, agricultural, land and investors to see Lorain County as the place to live, raise your family and become involved in our communities. By working together we can connect with our communities and add value to homeownership.
Lorain County provides many housing opportunities in terms of community choice, variety of styles, and excellent pricing. In addition, favorable interest rates and loan programs are available to qualified buyers. This a wonderful opportunity for all buyers and the time is right for a home purchase in Lorain County.
